The Bettermans welcome the Croods to the Giant Treehouse as guests, where they meet their daughter and Dawn, an old friend of Guy who befriends. With Instant Eep, life with Bettermans turns a disgrace for Grug as Bettermans evolve. At the same time, the Bettermans are confident Guy gets along well with them because of his greater development. And then plots to get Guy out of the Croods. Phil eventually advances to a secret man cave, a sauna-like place behind some waterfalls, where he convinces him that Guy will leave them.
